Celebrating Grandparents’ Day at Farmington Hills

At Fairmont Senior Living of Farmington Hills, we believe family connections are at the heart of a joyful and meaningful life. On September 7, our community gathered to celebrate Grandparents’ Day in true Montessori Inspired Lifestyle® fashion with residents leading the way in planning, preparing, and hosting an unforgettable afternoon.

Resident-Led Planning

This year’s event was extra special because our residents took the reins in shaping the celebration. From organizing family photo sessions to choosing the space for entertainment, they thoughtfully guided every detail. Seating was arranged with care, refreshments were selected, and the overall atmosphere reflected the pride our residents take in welcoming loved ones into their home. Their involvement captured the spirit of Montessori living, encouraging independence, purpose, and community engagement.

A Sweet Spread

Guests enjoyed a delightful assortment of refreshments, lovingly chosen and arranged by the residents. Coffee and lemonade were served alongside a tempting variety of miniature cheesecakes, cookies, and cupcakes. The dessert table quickly became a favorite stop, offering the perfect touch of sweetness to accompany conversations and laughter shared throughout the afternoon.

Music and Memories

No celebration is complete without music, and this year we were honored to host the Wagner Duo, who filled the air with beautiful melodies. Their performance provided the perfect backdrop for families to gather, reminisce, and create new memories together. The joyful atmosphere, paired with music and laughter, reflected the deep appreciation we hold for the grandparents and loved ones who enrich our community.

Family First

Grandparents’ Day at Farmington Hills wasn’t just about honoring grandparents—it was about celebrating the bonds that tie families together. Residents proudly welcomed children, grandchildren, and extended family members, creating a vibrant, multigenerational event. Photo sessions gave everyone a chance to capture these cherished moments, ensuring the memories will be treasured for years to come.

A Community Rooted in Care

Events like Grandparents’ Day highlight what makes Fairmont Senior Living of Farmington Hills unique: our commitment to creating a home where residents not only live but thrive. By encouraging them to play an active role in community life, we ensure each person feels a strong sense of purpose and belonging. Families left the event with full hearts, reminded of the joy that comes from connection, celebration, and shared experiences.
