At Fairmont Senior Living, honoring our nation’s veterans is more than a tradition—it’s a heartfelt tribute to those who’ve served with courage and dedication. Across each of our communities, Veterans Day is an opportunity to gather, reflect, and celebrate the brave men and women who proudly wore the uniform. From pinning ceremonies to student-led tributes, each Fairmont community embraces this day with gratitude and reverence.
Here’s how our five locations are commemorating Veterans Day this year:
Fairmont Senior Living of Washington Township
Honoring Every Branch, Celebrating Every Life
In Washington Township, Veterans Day is a community affair filled with meaning and remembrance. This year, as in years past, residents will attend a special ceremony at Oakview Elementary School in Kettering. Each branch of the military will be represented by a veteran from the community, giving local students the opportunity to learn firsthand from living history.
Additionally, Fairmont of Washington Township will host a deeply moving Veterans Pinning Ceremony, in partnership with Day City Hospice. Each veteran is individually honored with a pin and certificate, surrounded by fellow residents and staff who are proud to thank them for their service. This ceremony creates a powerful moment of connection and respect that is cherished by families and staff alike.
Fairmont Senior Living on Clayton
Ceremonies, Songs, and Celebrated Service
At Fairmont on Clayton, honoring veterans includes both solemn ceremonies and joyful celebration. The community will host a patriotic music program where residents can sing along, reminisce, and share stories about their time in the service. Military personnel have also been invited to join, adding an extra layer of connection to those still serving today.
In partnership with a local hospice organization, veterans at Clayton will also receive personalized certificates and pins, formally recognizing their service. It’s a thoughtful blend of music, memories, and appreciation.
Fairmont Senior Living of Farmington Hills
Taps, Tradition, and Timeless Gratitude
Farmington Hills brings tradition and reverence to their Veterans Day events. Last year, a volunteer trumpet player performed “Taps” and gave a brief history of its emotional significance. That moment will return this year, along with a partnered pinning ceremony, where each veteran is individually thanked and recognized for their service.
The ceremony fosters deep respect among residents, staff, and families—and creates an environment where history and heroism are honored with dignity.

Fairmont Senior Living of Northville
Vets to Vets Café and Ceremony of Connection
At Northville, Veterans Day is a continuation of an ongoing commitment to veteran connection. The community hosts a Vets to Vets Café twice monthly, offering veterans the opportunity to connect with others who’ve shared similar experiences.
This Veterans Day, Northville will host a special edition of the Café, featuring a certificate and pinning ceremony accompanied by refreshments and social time. The goal: to create space for camaraderie, storytelling, and shared honor.
Fairmont Senior Living of Westlake
Crowning Moments and Meaningful Recognition
Westlake brings a unique spirit of celebration to Veterans Day. The day includes a speaker, often a local veteran or military historian, who shares powerful reflections. Residents and staff members alike are pinned and honored, receiving a certificate of appreciation and enjoying a beautifully decorated event space.
With patriotic decor, good food, and heartfelt words, Westlake’s celebration brings everyone together in a moving show of unity and pride.
