Spotlight on an Assisted Living CNA: Meet Ronald

When you think about what truly makes a senior living community feel like home, it’s not just the amenities or the building itself—it’s the people.

At Fairmont Senior Living on Clayton, our team members bring heart, dedication, and decades of experience to every moment. Among them is Ronald, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) who has spent 20 years caring for residents like they’re family. His story is a reminder that great care starts with genuine connection.

A Friendly Face With 20 Years of Dedication

At Fairmont Senior Living on Clayton, care isn’t just part of the job—it’s a way of life. For Ronald, it’s been his purpose for over two decades. His dedication to our residents is more than admirable. It’s foundational to the compassionate, person-centered care we offer every day.

Ronald (or Ron, as many here call him) is a cornerstone of our caregiving team. He brings warmth, heart, and a strong sense of responsibility to his role, helping residents feel seen, supported, and cared for, especially when they need it most.

The Value of Assisted Living CNAs

CNA duties in assisted living communities extend well beyond physical care. While CNAs assist with tasks like bathing, dressing, and mobility, their greatest impact often comes through emotional connection. They’re a friendly presence, a steady routine, and often the first to notice subtle changes in a resident’s condition.

At Fairmont on Clayton, our CNAs like Ron help create a home-like atmosphere by fostering relationships and promoting independence. They listen, respond with empathy, and often become trusted companions. That’s why their role is so essential to the well-being of our residents, and why we’re so proud to celebrate their work.

Q&A With Ronald: 20 Years of Heartfelt Service

In this Q&A, Ron shares how he found his path to becoming an assisted living CNA, what he loves most about his work, and why this role is more than just a job to him.

Ron Comage 20yrs Of Service

What made you choose to work in this field?

“I moved to Saint Louis from Phoenix where I had studied civil engineering. But at 25, as a single father of two, I realized office work just wasn’t for me. I’ve always been a people person, and being in a cubicle wasn’t fulfilling. My uncle was a CNA in the 1980s, and it seemed like meaningful work, so I gave it a try.”

What do you enjoy most about working at Fairmont on Clayton?

“It’s the day-to-day connection. I treat the residents like family. Being part of their lives, even in small ways, is incredibly gratifying. I know they appreciate what I do, and I feel lucky to be here.”

Can you recall a moment that’s stayed with you?

“It’s hard to describe just one. The most meaningful moments are always at the end of life. Being there for a resident and helping their family through those last days is incredibly fulfilling. We all have our turn eventually, and bringing peace during that time makes everything worth it. Caring for residents has become second nature to me. My heart is in this. Caring for the residents keeps my heart pumping.”
