A Night to Remember: Fairmont Westlake’s 2025 Senior Prom

Peace, Love, and Music filled the air this summer at Fairmont Senior Living of Westlake during one of the most anticipated and beloved traditions of the year—Senior Prom 2025. This year’s event wasn’t just a party; it was a celebration of community, creativity, and purpose, all led by the residents themselves. With a ‘60s theme chosen by the community, complete with groovy décor, live music, and heartfelt moments, this unforgettable evening showed what living vibrantly truly looks like.

A Prom by the People, for the People

One of the most exciting things about this year’s prom? Our residents planned every detail. From selecting the theme (“Peace, Love, and Music”) to organizing decorations, choosing the band, planning the menu, and even designing the flyers, the 2025 Prom Committee—made up of about eight passionate residents, met biweekly for weeks to bring their vision to life.

This is Montessori programming in action. We believe that giving residents ownership over their experiences leads to a stronger sense of identity and fulfillment. Their engagement wasn’t limited to one evening—it extended over weeks of meaningful preparation, laughter, and collaboration.

Royalty With Heart

Of course, prom wouldn’t be complete without a Prom King and Queen. For two weeks leading up to the event, residents and staff voted for community members who embody compassion, spirit, and kindness. In a touching ceremony, the 2024 King and Queen, Ben and Robbie, passed down their crowns to this year’s honorees: Janet and Vern.

Both are cherished leaders within our Westlake community. Janet is known for her musical gifts and serves on the Welcoming Committee, plays piano for birthday celebrations, and offers weekly music programs in Memory Care. Vern, a former high school coach, now shares his love of sports and stories through Helping Hands, where he hosts “Sports Talk with Vern” for Memory Care residents.

We also celebrated the runners-up with titles of Princes and Princesses because every contribution to our community is valued and recognized.

Live Music and Lasting Memories

The atmosphere was electric thanks to John Pearson, a talented musician chosen and booked by the residents themselves. His live performance had the dance floor buzzing and brought back waves of nostalgia. From soulful ballads to upbeat hits, the night was filled with song, smiles, and connection.

Chef-prepared treats, joyful decorations, and the laughter of residents and families made the evening nothing short of magical. For many, it was a chance to relive memories and make new ones with friends and neighbors who have become like family.
