Senior Summer Activities at Fairmont Communities

Summer is a season of warmth, connection, and celebration, and at Fairmont Senior Living communities, it’s also a time to embrace joyful moments and create lasting memories. From themed parties and classic cookouts to meaningful outings and family-friendly festivals, senior summer activities at Fairmont are designed to inspire purpose, connection, and fun in every community.

Whether you’re exploring care options for a loved one or planning a visit, this summer is the perfect time to see how life is celebrated every day at Fairmont.

Clayton: Backyard BBQs and Ballgames

At Fairmont on Clayton, summer is already heating up with events full of music, food, and laughter. Residents and staff are looking forward to a Fourth of July backyard BBQ, complete with grilled hotdogs, chips, soda, games, and festive tunes. The team is even exploring water-themed fun like squirt guns to beat the St. Louis heat.

Recent senior summer activities and events have included a special performance by a Willie Nelson impersonator and a sweet treat from the kitchen, roasted banana pudding.

A trip to the zoo is also on the calendar, and although a ballgame is planned for September, summer stays lively with plenty of indoor and outdoor events that balance comfort with entertainment.

Westlake: A Prom, A Carnival, and Movie Magic

This summer, Fairmont of Westlake is throwing it back to the 1960s with a Senior Prom scheduled for August 8. With themed décor and classic hits, residents will enjoy an evening of dancing, photos, and fun memories.

In the Memory Care courtyard, a summer carnival is in the works, complete with games, color, and smiles. Westlake is also planning an outdoor movie night, open to the wider community, offering a perfect opportunity for families and prospective residents to experience the energy and warmth of Fairmont living.

Washington Township: Cooking Out for a Cause

At Fairmont of Washington Township, summer was marked by a meaningful event on June 21 for The Longest Day, in support of the Alzheimer’s Association. One of our resident’s family members stepped up to man the grill for this heartfelt cookout, which also featured a silent auction and resident-made crafts.

This gathering honors those impacted by Alzheimer’s and highlights the strength and togetherness of the Fairmont family. Residents, families, and staff came together to raise awareness and celebrated a cause close to the heart.

Curious what summer looks like at Fairmont? Schedule a tour today and see how our residents stay active, connected, and inspired through meaningful seasonal events and vibrant community life.

Northville: Tradition, Learning, and Celebration

Fairmont of Northville’s calendar is packed with senior summer activities that span tradition, education, and celebration. From an educational trip to the Holocaust Museum to cheering on the Tigers at a ballgame, residents enjoy meaningful moments both inside and beyond the community.

Signature events include the 4th Annual Apple Festival with a petting zoo, a picnic at Hines Park, and Family Fun Day, which is decorated by residents themselves. A classic Good Humor ice cream social brings a touch of nostalgia to summer afternoons, and a 1950s karaoke night with families is sure to get everyone singing along.

Farmington Hills: Splash Pad Fun, Summer Concerts, and Friendly Competition

At Fairmont of Farmington Hills, we’re soaking up the sunshine with a full calendar of senior summer activities that spark joy and connection. Our residents are gearing up for a lively bowling outing, with hopes of a little friendly competition against our sister community, Fairmont of Northville. Whether we win or lose, the day promises great laughs and even better company.

To cool off, we’re heading to Heritage Park for our Fun in the Sun Splash Pad days. Assisted Living and Memory Care residents will enjoy separate trips to the outdoor water park, complete with refreshing lunches prepped by our dining team. Add to that two upcoming Heritage Park events, the Summer Concert on July 10 and a performance by the Symbolica Flag Dancers on July 17, and it’s shaping up to be a summer to remember. Families are always welcome to join in the fun!

Why Senior Summer Activities Matter

Engaging in seasonal traditions, spontaneous fun, and hands-on experiences provides much more than entertainment. It supports cognitive function, emotional well-being, and social connection for seniors. Whether dancing at prom, sharing stories with grandchildren, or planting flowers in a community garden, these moments offer joy and purpose.

At Fairmont, every event is designed with intention. Our staff works closely with residents to ensure programming reflects their interests, memories, and traditions. Events often include intergenerational involvement, local partnerships, and opportunities for families to participate, because community is at the heart of everything we do. Contact us today to schedule a tour.
